D50 Announces eLearning Day on Friday, September 27
Due to the possibility of severe weather in our area from Tropical Storm Helene, Greenwood School District 50 has scheduled an eLearning Day on Friday, September 27, 2024.
All schools will be closed and students and staff will not report to school. All after-school activities are also canceled for Thursday, September 27.
Per the Greenwood Emergency Preparedness Center, the National Weather Service has reported the potential for widespread flash flooding due to heavy rainfall in our area beginning late Thursday night and through Friday morning. Wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph are likely across most of the forecasted area late Thursday night through Friday morning. The combination of strong wind gusts and saturated soils will likely result in numerous downed trees, with the possible power outages.
E-Learning assignments will be posted to Google Classroom for students in grades 8 -12 unless instructed otherwise by their teachers. Students in grades 8 - 12 will take Chromebooks home from school. Students in K4 - 7 will complete paper packets of independent work unless instructed otherwise by their teachers. Students who are unable to participate in the eLearning day due to power outages in our area will have the opportunity to complete their assignments at a later date.
