Tom Fortman - Assistant Principal

Tom Fortman is a second career educator.  After working 15 years for AT&T, he became a high school math teacher in Baltimore, MD.  His 12 years in education have been split between Baltimore and South Carolina.  He taught a variety of math classes for two years at Clinton High School before becoming an assistant principal at Chester High School and moving to Greenwood 50 in 2021.

Mr. Fortman has earned a BS degree in Business Administration-Management from Colorado Technical University and two Master’s degrees from Liberty University, one in Christian Ministry Leadership and the other in Educational Supervision and Administration.  He currently holds an EdS degree from The University of the Cumberlands and is continuing towards his Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership.

Mr. Fortman has a passion for helping teachers and students realize their dreams and live out their purpose, believing that building relationships is the foundation of education, because, to quote President Theodore Roosevelt, “They won’t care what you know until they know that you care.”
